Calvary Baptist Church

Aviano, Italy

February 1, 2012

It is very, very cold today with light snow showers.

Frankie and I are excited and encouraged as we see the Lord work here at Calvary Baptist Church. Bro. Roy Smith (former pastor) put a lot of finances and work into this ministry and had to leave because his monthly support was insufficient. It is very expensive here. Bro. Smith also had difficulty getting his wife's visa. As you know, Frankie and I are filling in here for two to three months and it is very expensive for us here also. We are facing a great challenge and yet we are seeing our great Lord at work. As you can imagine some of the people here are discouraged and what an opportunity for the Lord to work. This past Sunday we had 28 people in the A.M. service and 23 people in the P.M. service. We have had one lady to make a profession of faith but she has not come forward to make it public.

When we arrived here, the church was out of heating oil and almost out of bottle gas and firewood. We can see the people encouraged now as we see the Lord work. We ordered - heating oil -$1000. Bottle gas - $300, Firewood - $150. A total of $1450. The Lord has sent in several special offerings to help with this need. $1000 from D.S., $200. from R.S.. $200 from A.E. and $70 from S.P. A total of $1470. As you can see the Lord immediately took care of the heating expense. Isn't it wonderful how the Lord works. There are many other needs and we know the Lord will take care of these as well. We are thankful and grateful to those of you who are helping us with this great need here.

Please pray that we will be able to see the people stirred and excited about serving our Lord. Our heart's desire is to see each and every member in the place in their life where they can be blessed of God. "These are times that try men souls" and many complain that it is the days in which we live that is the problem. While we do live in hard days, we must evaluate these days and times and remember that our Lord said "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."

We need a good missionary here in this military work. Our military need and deserve a great church while serving our country overseas.

Please continue to pray for us. We need God's power and God's wisdom.

Offerings and support should be sent to Steve Nutt, Account #827. BIMI, P.O. Box 9215, Chattanooga, TN 37412.

Nutt's Notes Update

March 24, 2011

Steve leaves for Yokosuka, Japan, in the morning.  We would appreciate your prayers.   He is to be there for 2 months.  We have a missionary family there that is scheduled for a furlough and would love to bring their children out of there now.  Steve will be filling in there for two months.  He is to keep the church building, the work going , and to try to find a missionary for the work there.   We feel like when the crises is over the military and their families will be back at the military base there.  I am not going with him.  He feels it would be best if I stayed here.   There is radiation in the water, food shortage, and bottle water shortage. Many of our churches were affected by 9/11 and this is another blow to military churches in Japan.  It was just decided last Sunday night that Steve would go as soon as possible.  Things worked out well, he has his tickets, international license, and travel insurance.

With most of the members being evacuated, it will be difficult  to operate the work there.  Steve asked me to mention in this letter that if any of your could help us with this trip, please send a donation to Steve Nutt, BIMI account #827.  Mail to:   BIMI, P. O. Box 9215, Chattanooga, TN  37412.

Steve will arrive in Tokyo Saturday and the missionary family will leave on Monday.  Before this tragedy, the church there was a thriving, growing and soul winning work with many people saved.  Our hearts desire is to see this once again.

Steve is to return May 23rd.  He is schedule to teach in Candidate School for BIMI which will be June 6 - 10.  We have five weeks open for meeting in June, July and August.  We leave the last week of August for Germany.   We are to fill in at Bethel Baptist Church in Stuttgart, Germany.  We have two weeks open in December for meetings.  We praise the Lord for how He has blessed.   Last year we were overseas for five months and this year we will be overseas for five months.

While Steve is Japan, you can reach me 423-544-4045 and Steve when his computer is on 423-591-0180.
